Bernalillo Pet Care Center encourages comprehensive preventative care to help your pets live long, healthy lives and reduce future medical expenses. To make optimal preventive care more affordable, we now offer convenient Preventive Care Packages with monthly payment options.
We offer a full range of vaccinations and council pet owners on individualized vaccination protocols based on the lifestyle and risks of each patient. We also recommend and offer annual screening for intestinal parasites, heartworms and tick-borne diseases in dogs; as well as Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) and Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) in cats.
We recommend older pets have annual screening blood work, which allows for early detection and treatment of acute illnesses and chronic diseases. This can be done in our hospital in as little as 15 minutes. We require that all pets have blood work prior to anesthesia.
General wellness surgeries, including spays, neuters, and dental procedures, are offered regularly. Estimates for these procedures are typically provided during a wellness visit. Active patients can receive surgical and dental consults at no charge.
We do also provide affordable euthanasia services, with options for cremation.
Illnesses and Injuries
We are a full-service veterinary hospital, capable of providing care for a variety of illnesses and injuries.
We are equipped with in-house blood screening machines, digital x-rays, and a variety of other diagnostic equipment as well as advanced anesthesia monitoring equipment. A fully equipped pharmacy and surgical suite allow us to provide immediate care for your pets. If needed, we work with a local ultrasonographer who will travel to our clinic.
We perform soft tissue and basic orthopedic surgeries. If we are unable to provide further care, we work with several local specialty hospitals and will provide referrals for more complex procedures.
Laser therapy is an effective, non-invasive method for reducing pain and inflammation, treating many acute and chronic conditions, and improved healing time.
We have Multi Radiance Medical laser therapy devices that utilize Super Pulsed Laser technology to deliver photons of multi-wavelength light to reduce inflammation, promote healthy blood flow to the area, and regenerate cells necessary for healing. Unlike some other lasers, these lasers are the safest on the market and do not overheat the tissue.
Laser therapy has been clinically proven to reduce pain and inflammation from conditions such as arthritis, orthopedic injuries, cruciate tears, intervertebral disc disease, and many other painful conditions involving inflammation. Laser can also help treat skin wounds, dermatitis, hot spots, anal gland infections, ear infections, and gum disease. We also use laser on post-operative incisions to jump start the healing process and reduce pain.

Dr. Sullivan has completed both the basic and advanced small animal acupuncture training courses through the Chi Institute for Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) in Reddick, FL.
TCVM, including acupuncture, herbal therapy, and food therapy, gives Dr. Sullivan another low-invasive option for treatment of chronic diseases including chronic pain from arthritis or slipped discs, kidney or liver failure, KCS (dry eye), chronic constipation, and many other conditions. It is a particularly effective option for chronic pain management in pets that can not tolerate western pain medications, such as NSAIDs, or whose pain is not sufficiently controlled this way.
We are equipped to perform dry needle, electro and aquapuncture, and work with the Chi Institute's herbal pharmacy (Jing Tang Herbal) to prescribe herbs as needed.
If you are interested in TCVM, please let our receptionist know when you call for an appointment, as these initial consults typically take longer than regular appointments.
